Ke Huy Quan Wants Tom Hiddleston To Play A Giraffe In Potential Zootopia 3

Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster talk Zootopia 2, as well as which character the former Loki star thinks would be perfect for Tom Hiddleston to play.

Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster are joining the massive world of Zootopia 2, and one of them is ready for their former co-star to join in the next installment. The Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once star joins the animated sequel as Gary De'Snake, a pit viper seemingly working against Jason Bateman's Nick and Ginnifer Goodwin's Judy, but has a more personal motive for his interference.

Feimster, meanwhile, stars in the Zootopia 2 cast as Nibbles Maplestick, a beaver podcaster and conspiracy theorist living in the new world of the Marsh Market. Judy and Nick are sent by Mr. Big to find Nibbles to discover a secret community of reptiles in the hopes of finding Gary and learning more about the truth behind why reptiles were banished from Zootopia.

As the film makes its way to theaters, ScreenRant's Ash Crossan interviewed Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster to discuss Zootopia 2. Turning their attention to the sequel's much larger ensemble of stars than its predecessor, the duo were asked their thoughts on who they would like to see potentially star in a third film should Disney move ahead with one.

Quan revealed he had the perfect pitch for Tom Hiddleston, wanting to see his former Loki co-star "play a giraffe" in Zootopia 3, laughing as he describes the star as being "so tall!" He then went on to recall his experience working with Hiddleston on the Marvel Cinematic Universe show, where the Golden Globe winner brought a very uplifting spirit to the set:

Ke Huy Quan: I want to see it because when we did Loki, he would always come to set with a portable speaker, and it would blast [music] really early in the morning. Everybody's just kind of waking up, and he would come in, and you would hear music through the speaker as he makes his way to set. I totally see him being a giraffe with a portable speaker around his neck, and then just blasting music. But what's really incredible is he would choose a different piece of music every day, and it would just wake everybody up and motivate everyone to do the best work for that day.

With Hiddleston in mind, Quan was subsequently asked about his reaction to the news that Hiddleston would be returning for Avengers: Doomsday after the Loki season 2 ending left him in a unique place. The star exclaimed that "I expected" for Hiddleston to return to the MCU in some capacity, given "Loki is so iconic in that franchise," while also still keeping his fingers crossed that O.B. will be back, but says, "we will see."

Playing Animals Came With A Unique Challenge For Quan & Feimster

ScreenRant: I want to start with: who is not in this film?

Fortune Feimster: I mean, at the premiere last night, there were rows and rows and rows of actors. We didn't even know who all was in the film.

Ke Huy Quan: I still don't know. There are so many of us, and it's so massive. It's the most epic Disney animated film of all time. We had a premiere, and we were on the red carpet being asked, "Hey, what's it like working with this and that?" And I go, "Wait, are they in the movie?"

ScreenRant: I would see people on the carpet, and I was trying to figure out who they were throughout the whole movie. I was like, "I'm trying to figure out who is voicing who."

Ke Huy Quan: Yeah, and it's hard because they're so good. They kind of make their voice sound a little bit different. Like, Josh Gad in the movie! Did you recognize him? He was the little [IT mole] with Clawhauser. I mean, there are so many incredible actors in this thing.

ScreenRant: When you're playing animals, and you go into the booth, are there certain things that you're doing to be a snake or a beaver?

Fortune Feimster: Did you? I feel like you nailed the mouth of the snake.

Ke Huy Quan: In the recording booth, there was a microphone, and there was a stand where you put your script, and then there was a bar that is literally bolted down into concrete. And at times, I would grab onto it and just move myself the way that I imagined Gary would move. It was really physical, and I would be sweating at the end of the session. It was fun, but also challenging, too. It's not easy, but it's very rewarding.

Fortune Feimster: I didn't think about being a beaver with the teeth and everything, as far as the voice. I just tried to make Nibbles more Southern, and I felt like that would help with the enunciation of those teeth. But I used to be a beaver in the comedy more. I cannot tell you how many beaver puns I did in the recording. None of them made it, but I was constantly doing beaver puns in the session.

Ke Huy Quan: We'll save it for the spinoff!

Fortune Feimster: Yeah, I was like, "Just a whittle joke for you!" That kind of stuff. I was always trying to get whittling in there. When I said "That's Beav 101," that was an improvised thing. I was always abbreviating things or just using the fact that I was a beaver as part of the joke.

ScreenRant: Zootopia characters are so iconic, even if you've never seen the movie, you've seen the characters. What is it like for you, two knowing kids are going to love these characters? They're going to go to Disneyland, and the imagery will be everywhere. I'm already seeing it, driving around.

Fortune Feimster: It's crazy. I fly all the time for standup, and in all the airports, I'm just like, "My God, there's Nibbles!" I get so excited. We were at Disney the other night, and they just showed us a tiny taste of the merch that's coming. It's crazy. It's everywhere. To know that's your character that you played? I've never had anything like this before in my career, so it's very exciting.

Ke Huy Quan: The best part is all the merchandising. If you go to McDonald's now and order a Happy Meal, you can get a little action figure. Going to Disneyland and going into those stores and seeing T-shirts with the characters on there, or the little doll? It's so amazing. I'm wearing a Gary jacket! This is custom-made from Levi's. They're really sweet. I love this jacket.

ScreenRant: Fortune, are you on tour right now?

Fortune Feimster: I am, yeah.

ScreenRant: How is that going?

Fortune Feimster: It's amazing. I'm filming a new show right now with Will Ferrell, so I am having to go between filming to do standup. But it's great. It's a whole new hour, so I'll film a special next year.
