Nov. 26—FARMINGTON, Utah — Montana State sophomore Taylee Chirrick is having a breakout season, and on Tuesday her efforts landed her the honor as the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week.

The 5-foot-10 guard from Roberts averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 6.0 steals and 3.5 assists per game as the Bobcats defeated UNLV 94-81 before falling to Troy, 74-60, on Monday.

Chirrick, who has been in double figure scoring in all five games, registered 16 points and 10 rebounds against the Rebels for her fifth career double-double. She also added six steals and three assists.

On Monday, Chirrick notched a game-high 21 points, while recording nine rebounds, six steals, and four assists.

Montana State is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation averaging 18.6 steals per game, while Chirrick — the reigning defensive player of the year for the Big Sky — is No. 4 in the country at 4.6 steals per game.

The Bobcats play at Colorado, Sunday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m., in Boulder.

Guard Mack Konig was nominated for the honor by the Montana Lady Griz.

The men's player of the week is Quinn Denker, a guard for Northern Colorado.

Denker, a graduate player who began his college career with the Idaho Vandals, averaged 21.0 points, 6.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds over three contests at the Portland Invitational. The Bears scored wins over Portland (86-80) and Cal-State Fullerton (97-93) along with a loss to St. Thomas (73-72).

Against the Portland Pilots, he forced overtime and dropped 29 in the contest; he was named to the Portland Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Among those nominated for the men's award was guard Money Williams of Montana.
