Every week, the Las Cruces Sun-News will nominate several athletes for its Athlete of the Week award, sponsored by the El Paso Children's Hospital. The winner is decided by you, the readers.
The award highlights the best performances from Las Cruces-area schools from the previous week. This week, there are five football and volleyball nominees from Las Cruces.

Last week's winner was Las Cruces volleyball's Caleigh Garcia, who tallied 31 total digs in the 5A semifinals and state championship game against Cleveland and La Cueva, respectively.

Gutierrez returned an interception for a touchdown against La Cueva.
Addison Massey, Las Cruces volleyball
Massey was voted as the Star of the Match for the Green Team at the 5A Red-Green match.
Caleigh Garcia, Las Cruces volleyball
Garcia was voted as the Star of the Match for the Red Team at the 5A Red-Green match.
