Castillo has taken that decision out of their hands.

The left-handed pitcher is leaving MLB to sign in Japan's NPB with the Chiba Lotte Marines.

The Mets non-tendered Castillo earlier in November.

Castillo had a wild 2025 and is looking for a bit of stability.

In 2025, he pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Seattle Mariners, the Baltimore Orioles and the Mets.

Castillo did do a solid job. He had a 3.94 ERA in 32 innings pitched.

Amazingly, Castillo was with the Mets on three different occasions.

Before this season, Castillo has pitched for the Padres in four other MLB campaigns. He has also missed time in the past with Tommy John surgery.

Castillo has a 4.11 ERA in his MLB career and should be effective in Japan.

He may get a chance to come back stateside eventually, but for now, he'll see what he can do in Japan.
