The Buffalo Bills have hired Drew Terrell as the team’s new wide receivers coach, per a report by Adam Schefter. Before joining the Bills, Terrell was the passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach for the Arizona Cardinals.

Terrell, 34, is another relatively young coach heading to One Bills Drive in what has been a bit of a youth movement in the coaching ranks since Joe Brady was named the new head coach. A former college wide receiver/return specialist who played four years at Stanford (2009-2012), Terrell also made a big impact as a punt returner and earned three consecutive All-Pac-12 honorable mentions (2010 through 2012 seasons).

As a collegiate wide receiver, Terrell finished his four-year career with 44 receptions for 557 yards and five touchdowns in 47 games. A true x-factor, Terrell was also utilized as a rusher and even quarterback, the latter of which saw him finish with a career stat line of 2-of-2 for 47 yards. Of course, Terrell’s punt-return ability stood out most, and he totaled 71 returns for 797 yards and one touchdown, per Sports Reference.

Terrell entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant with Virginia Tech for the 2014 season. He then landed with the University of Michigan as a graduate assistant (WR/CB) for three years (2015-2017). Terrell was then hired to his first NFL coaching position, being named offensive quality control coach (QB) for the Carolina Panthers during the 2018 and 2019 NFL seasons.

In 2020, Terrell was named assistant wide receivers coach for the Washington Football Team, then received a promotion to wide receivers coach during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Terrell’s last stop before being hired by One Bills Drive was with Arizona, where he coached wide receivers to include Marvin Harrison Jr.
