One of the hardest Pokémon to catch in Pokémon GO is Ditto, the transforming Normal-type that mimics other pocket monsters. Even in February 2026, Ditto remains difficult to track down, mainly due to how its disguises tend to shift occasionally based on certain events. Although there aren't many changes to Ditto's masks this month, it's still good to remind yourself where this Pokémon appears.
Many of the rarest Pokémon are defined by their exclusivity, with some only coming from completing Special Research, participating in events, or taking on bosses in large Raids. Thankfully, Ditto isn't harder to find than any other Pokémon through an encounter. When you catch a Pokémon that Ditto is disguised as, the message "Oh?" will show up, before revealing that the creature you collected was actually a Ditto.

Ditto always tends to have a dozen or more disguises each month, ever since he debuted with the Tour: Kanto event some time ago. At first, you could find Ditto through Research Breakthroughs during events, but the process has changed. It's also worth noting that capturing a Pokémon from Ditto's disguise list has a chance of becoming the Pokémon, but it is never guaranteed.
For February 2026, here are all the Pokémon that could transform into Ditto upon being caught:
- Mankey (Fighting-type)
- Growlithe (Fire-type)
- Magnemite (Electric/Steel-type)
- Voltorb (Electric-type)
- Sentret (Normal-type)
- Teddiursa (Normal-type)
- Seedot (Grass-type)
- Surskit (Bug/Water-type)
- Slakoth (Normal-type)
- Whismur (Normal-type)
- Duskull (Ghost-type)
If you find Shiny versions of these Pokémon, they won't turn into Dittos. This helps ensure that any Shiny Pokémon you want from this list doesn't have its Shiny odds in Pokémon GO affected by Ditto's ability to become it when caught.
Much like other Pokémon, Ditto will have its own CP once transformed from a disguise in your collection. Catching multiple Ditto will give you opportunities to raise its power further, but this can be tricky. The Pokémon on Ditto's disguise list all have unique restrictions as to where and when they can be captured, such as Duskull spawning more frequently during the night.
When you do farm enough Ditto Candy, you'll be surprised to learn that the Normal-type isn't a slouch in some battles. While you can't use Ditto in Trainer battles, it can go up against Gyms much like other Pokémon on your roster. Ditto keeps its own CP and stats when it fights, but turns into whatever Pokémon it faces, copying its moves, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities to keep opponents guessing.
How To Increase The Chances Of Finding Ditto
Use The Right In-Game Items For Increased Spawn Rates
Pokémon GO Ditto
To find more Ditto, you have to manipulate the appearance of its disguises first. Much like you would increase the spawns of any other Pokémon, both Lure Modules and Incense can attract more Pokémon to your location, upping the chances of Ditto disguises showing up. Most of the Pokémon you catch won't be a Ditto, but the more the disguises are available, the more times you can try to get the "Oh?" message that signals a discovered Ditto.
Events and routes in Pokémon GO can also help you find more Dittos, but only when they feature some of the Pokémon Ditto can transform into within any given month.
This rule also applies to Shiny versions of Ditto, which are arguably even more elusive than the Normal-type is most of the time. Shiny Ditto are found with 1 in 64 odds, but only once you uncover a rare Ditto from one of many disguises. For example, you might find a Ditto one in every twenty Mankeys you catch. This means that there's only about a 1.5% chance that the single Ditto you got would also be Shiny.
Using in-game items remains the best way to find Dittos, as they help not only you, but also any other players near the location where you used an Incense or Lure. Coordinating with friends gives you the best chance to use items together to increase Ditto disguise spawns fast. This Pokémon hasn't shown up in great numbers ever since the Completely Normal event, so don't expect it to have Research or Raids surrounding it for a while.

Even during February 2026, there may be some alterations to what Pokémon appear as Ditto in Pokémon GO, but any update involving this seldom-seen Normal-type wouldn't change the methods for capturing it.
