The Kansas State Wildcats capped off their 2025 regular season with a 24-14 win over the Colorado Buffaloes, finishing the year with a 6-6 record.
For the seventh consecutive season, the Wildcats were led by 58-year-old head coach Chris Klieman — who took over as the program's head coach in 2019.
Klieman's seven-year stint with Kansas State is reportedly coming to an end. The veteran head coach will announce his retirement sometime this week, according to team insider Ned Seaton of the Manhattan Mercury.
Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein, Kansas State's former OC/quarterbacks coach under Klieman, will return as the program's next head coach.

Over his seven seasons at the helm, Klieman amassed a 54-34 overall record. The former North Dakota State HC led the Wildcats to five bowl game appearances, winning three. Kansas State notched at least eight wins in five of his seven seasons in Manhattan.
Klein, Klieman's replacement, is entering a College Football Playoff run with Texas A&M. The Aggies dropped to No. 7 in the penultimate CFP rankings after suffering their first loss of the 2025 season against the Texas Longhorns this past Saturday.

With Klein operating as offensive coordinator, Texas A&M is averaging 454.4 yards and 36.3 points per game.
Klein is a Kansas State icon, leading the Wildcats to a Big 12 Championship title as the team's quarterback in 2012. He finished that season as a Heisman Trophy finalist, completing 64.8% of his passes for 2,641 yards and 16 touchdowns, and rushing for 920 yards and a conference-leading 23 touchdowns as a dual-threat weapon.
Kansas State will receive its bowl game assignment on Dec. 7.
