Apple TV is slashing its subscription price by over 50% for a limited time, which also comes as the streamer's latest sci-fi masterpiece is underway.

With it already being home to some of the most acclaimed genre television on the air, Apple TV is now offering subscribers a massive discount in time for its latest sci-fi hit. After its initially rocky start in early 2020, the streamer has been on a steady upswing for the past few years, particularly in the wake of Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso becoming a critical hit, and the acclaimed drama CODA winning the Oscar for Best Picture, the first streaming film to do so.

With options of including it in the Apple One subscription plan, and bundling it with various other streamers, Apple TV has expanded its reach, currently netting upward of 45 million subscribers. However, while this growth has come with expanding their content library and partnerships with other studios and organizations, particularly in the sports world, it also came with a 30% price increase in August 2025.

Now, in honor of the upcoming discount shopping day, Apple TV is offering a special Black Friday discount to both new and returning subscribers. The deal, which is available through Monday, December 1, will see the ad-free subscription costing just $5.99 per month for six months, a discount of over 50% from the normal $12.99 a month price. Apple TV users who take the deal will have their subscriptions automatically begin renewing at the normal price at the end of the six-month period.

Apple TV isn't the only streamer to be offering a major slash in its subscription prices in time for Black Friday. HBO Max also announced a major 70% price decrease, bringing its Basic plan down to just $2.99 a month, with the deal similarly lasting through Monday. However, unlike Apple TV, the Warner Bros. Discovery deal will see the streamer's reduced price last for a full year.

Beyond just the holidays, the Apple TV deal comes at a perfect time for those who don't already have a subscription to the streamer. Vince Gilligan's Pluribus just recently kicked off the first of its two confirmed seasons, and has already become one of the most acclaimed series of the year. Currently holding a 99% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the sci-fi series is already on its way to surpassing Severance as the most talked-about genre series on the air.

Additionally, the Apple TV Black Friday deal comes in time for their movie library growing with Mark Wahlberg's The Family Plan 2 and the upcoming streaming debut of F1. The latter film, in particular, proved to be one of the year's biggest box office hits, and not only led the streamer to make a five-year deal with Formula One to stream all Grands Prix, practice sessions and other events, but has also sparked early sequel talks with director Joseph Kosinski and star Brad Pitt.
