LSU welcomed the 8-2 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers into Baton Rouge for a nonconference matchup as the Tigers' season continues to wind down. It was senior night in Death Valley as 28 seniors were honored before the game. Interim coach Frank Wilson got his first win as the head coach last week against Arkansas, and he looked to go on a win streak with a win tonight. Here are five things that stood out for LSU on Saturday night.

Penalties

One of the biggest facets of the game comes in the form of a yellow flag. LSU did not win the penalty battle against the Hilltoppers this week. The Tigers had nine penalties for 69 total yards, while Western Kentucky had only four penalties for 26 yards.

Michael Van Buren Jr.

It was not the best night for Van Buren against Western Kentucky. He was wholly inconsistent as he finished the game 25-for-42 for 202 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He was not able to get much done on the ground either, as he only carried the ball seven times for 12 yards.

Harlem Berry

The Hilltoppers' run defense proved to be stingy against LSU for most of the night, but when the Tigers were looking to close the game out in the back half of the fourth quarter, Harlem Berry stepped up. Berry led the way with 18 carries for 80 yards, but a late fumble helped WKU cut the lead to 13-10 with a minute left.
