At some point this season, the Boston Celtics will have a tough decision to make regarding Jayson Tatum. The St. Louis native is currently sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury, suffered against the New York Knicks in the 2025 Eastern Conference Semifinals. And while Tatum could miss the entirety of the current season, there's a chance that he will be medically cleared toward the end of the campaign.

Brad Stevens, Tatum and Joe Mazzulla must decide whether bringing him back during a season where the team's isn't considered a contender is worthwhile. After all, being medically cleared is only the first step. Tatum would still need to get his cardio back to an NBA standard and begin rediscovering his touch. It could take 15-20 games before we start seeing him anywhere near his best.

With that in mind, Adam Kaufman and Ountae Campbell debated whether shutting Tatum down for the entire 2025-26 season would be a better choice for the Celtics. The discussion took place on a recent episode of the "Hold My Banner" podcast for NESN.
