Amazon Prime Video has movies for every taste, and the Thanksgiving holiday is the perfect time to discover new and classic films. Quickly launching itself into the streaming conversation, Prime Video has rivaled juggernauts like Netflix since its inception. The massive size of the streamer's catalog is its greatest strength, and Prime even produces its own content.
While assembling the ultimate weekly movie playlist can be a daunting task, Prime Video makes it easy by offering nearly every genre and style imaginable. With the final week of November already here, and the winter blues right around the corner, a Prime Video movie binge must include laughs, chills, and thrills. Thankfully, the streamer has all three in abundance.
Death At A Funeral (2007)
Two men talk in Death at a Funeral
Though it was quickly remade, the 2007 version of Death at a Funeral is the definitive article. The hilarious cringe comedy centers on a dysfunctional family that is forced to reunite when one of them dies. Director Frank Oz uses his brilliant cast to craft a farcical story that only gets more outlandish as it goes along.
A movie like Death at a Funeral fits perfectly into a weekly watch list because it's a guaranteed mood-enhancer. Cringe comedy is often an acquired taste, but the 2007 gem uses its absurdity in a way that isn't too alienating to casual viewers. No movie binge is complete without a few laughs, and Death at a Funeral provides plenty of those.
Vertigo (1958)
Kim Novak looks frightened while embracing Jimmy Stewart in Vertigo
Ranked among the greatest films ever, Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo is still an exhilarating experience nearly 70 years later. A former cop with an extreme fear of heights descends into a surreal world of intrigue while working as a handler for an unstable woman. Hitchcock is the master of suspense, and Vertigo proves he's the master of cinema in general.
With its lavish photography and unique colors, Vertigo is like a semester's worth of film school in one two-hour sitting. Besides its merits as a work of art, the Jimmy Stewart vehicle is also wildly entertaining as a thriller, with twists that amaze decades on. A weekly binge-watch should include a classic, so why not one of the all-time greats?
Nobody (2021)
Hutch looks on blankly while holding a burning stack of money in Nobody
With a sequel that debuted in 2025, Nobody has become a bona fide action franchise. Bob Odenkirk stars as an unassuming man who becomes a fighting machine after his family is threatened. Made in the John Wick mold, Nobody combines over-the-top and highly stylized fight sequences with a simple and effective plot.
With an impressive 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, Nobody breaks the bad review curse that most action movies suffer from. That's because it relies heavily on great performances, and puts its emphasis in all the right places. Nobody is a quintessential binge-watch movie because it is a fast-paced thrill ride, but it's also a well-made addition to Amazon Prime Video's catalog.
