Texas A&M comes off a 48-0 pasting of visiting Samford on Saturday, in which the defense allowed only 77 yards and shook off two turnovers by the offense. Amari Daniels piled up 106 yards and a touchdown on nine carries while Marcel Reed was 10-of-15 for 120 yards and three scores in limited duty. Ashton Bethel-Roman caught two passes, both for TDs, and KC Conception had a touchdown grab while Tiger Riden Jr. and Preston Landis ran for scores.
Texas outlasted stubborn Arkansas on Saturday, taking a 52-37 victory to improve to 5-0 at home. Arch Manning finished 18-of-30 for 389 yards and four touchdowns, adding a scoring run, and caught a touchdown pass from receiver Parker Livingstone as well. Livingstone had two catches for 104 yards and a TD, with DeAndre Moore Jr. snagging three touchdown passes, helping overcome a defense that allowed 512 yards of total offense.
The Aggies advance to the Southeastern Conference championship game next week against Georgia with a victory on Friday night, while Texas looks for its third straight win in a rivalry series that resumed last season after a 13-year break following Texas A&M’s departure from the Big 12 to the SEC. The Longhorns hold a 77-37-5 edge in the series.
