Thanksgiving week is an ideal time to hop on the couch and binge-watch movies on Netflix, and the streamer has a ton of great options to choose from. The first big name in the streaming game, Netflix is still the leading streamer because of its massive catalog and rapidly-expanding library of original content.
Because Netflix's options are so limitless, it can sometimes be difficult to assemble the perfect weekly watch list. Thankfully, the streamer has something for every mood, taste, and even season. From imaginative Netflix original films, to underrated indie gems, and even explosive thrillers, the final week of November is the perfect time to discover new movies.
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)

With Guillermo del Toro's interpretation of Frankenstein topping the Netflix charts, his take on Pinocchio should be next on the watch list. The stop-motion animated tale borrows from the classic story, but incorporates darker elements and del Toro's signature visual style. Though not overtly unfriendly to younger viewers, Pinocchio is a far cry from the Disney film.
The design is stylish and beautiful, and it manages to recontextualize the well-known fairy tale into something contemporary. Pinocchio snagged the Best Animated Feature award at the Academy Awards, alongside numerous accolades. It's a must-watch for any film fan, and it's a perfect illustration of del Toro's deft mixture of heady ideas with an accessible cinematic approach.
Non-Stop (2014)

Though Liam Neeson now has a reputation for making the same movie over and over, 2014's Non-Stop continued his versatile rise as an action hero. He plays an Air Marshal who is suddenly thrust into a deadly game on an international flight. Simplistic and fun, Non-Stop proves that action films need not be too complex to be enjoyable.
With a supporting cast including Julianne Moore, Non-Stop was a bona fide blockbuster. It grossed over $200 million (via Box Office Mojo) and scored decent reviews. It's the perfect movie for the middle of a long week because of its high-octane thrills and easy-to-follow plot. Sometimes a good dose of mindless entertainment is just what the doctor ordered.
Sing Street (2016)
The cast of Sing Street stand in front of the school
The beauty of Netflix's catalog is that it's loaded with underrated gems, and Sing Street is one film that deserves more attention. The Irish coming-of-age musical is set in the 1980s, and follows a teen who uses music to escape the struggles of moving from his posh school to an inner-city locale.
With '80s nostalgia still popular, Sing Street is a nice alternative for those looking for a blast from the past. It lacks the Hollywood gloss of American films, but that's one of its appealing qualities. With a sweet message and great music, Sing Street is one of those Netflix movies that can be watched repeatedly without losing its charm.
