Their struggles began against the No. 22 Auburn Tigers, as they committed 18 turnovers and stars Jackson Shelstad and Nate Bittle combined to score just 19 points on 6-of-28 shooting from the field. They hung in it, with the game being tied at halftime, before the Tigers pulled away for an 84-73 win.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFavored to beat the San Diego State Aztecs in Game 2, the Ducks' defense was abysmal. They allowed the Aztecs to convert on 67% of their field goals and score 97 points, resulting in a 17-point loss despite Shelstad knocking down five triples and scoring 21 points.
With two losses, Oregon will compete in a consolation game on Thanksgiving morning against the Creighton Bluejays. They enter off of two losses in the tournament as well to the Baylor Bears and Iowa State Cyclones by a combined 25 points.
