Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat of the season in the UEFA Champions League against Arsenal, losing 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

After an evenly contested first half in which both teams scored, the Gunners brought on Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli, and they proved to be the difference.

Bayern struggled to get talisman Harry Kane into the game. The England international striker had the fewest touches of any player to play 90 minutes.

Kane recorded only two touches in the Arsenal box and didn’t even manage to get a shot off, surprising numbers considering he has netted 15 goals in 21 matches against the hosts.

Yesterday’s match was the first time in his career that Kane played the full 90 minutes against Arsenal without having a single shot.

The 32-year-old is already plotting revenge. The former Tottenham Hotspur ace is looking forward to meeting the Gunners again in the knockout stage.

Kane said (via TNT Sports): “I’m sure we’ll see them again in the latter stages of the competition, so we look forward to that.”

Arsenal top the Champions League group with a perfect record, while Bayern remain in one of the automatic qualifying spots. There is still a chance that they will cross paths.

However, Arsenal look unstoppable, and Bayern will need to play out of their skin to get past Mikel Arteta’s side.

They look like overwhelming favourites for the Premier League title and are surprisingly robust in Europe. They will take some stopping.

As for Kane and Bayern, they will have to lick their wounds and prepare for their Bundesliga clash with St Pauli this weekend.

The Bavarians will be out to snap up three points, and Kane must be itching to be back on the scoresheet.

Their next Champions League outing comes on December 9 when they host Sporting CP, aiming to atone for the Arsenal loss.
