After a buzz-beater thriller in Monday's opening round, Casey and host Cumberland both won by comfortable margins in Tuesday's second round of the Cumberland Thanksgiving high school boys basketball tournament at Greenup, Ill.
Ten Casey players scored in the Warriors' 55-26 season-opening victory over Okaw Valley on Tuesday, led by Leighton Jones' 14 points and Jackson High's 10. Casey led 18-3, 32-9 and 45-18 at the quarter breaks, and got a boost from six 3-pointers in the game. Wyatt Hildebrandt topped Okaw Valley with 12 points.

On Monday, a tight first-round duel at the Cumberland tournament boiled down to a buzzer-beater basket by Dieterich's Ezra Cook to beat Marshall 41-39. The Lions had battled back from an earlier 10-point deficit. Marshall had trailed 14-13, 24-20 and 34-27 at the quarter breaks.
But a fourth-quarter rally — fueled by two 3-pointers and a 2-pointer from Lions senior guard Payton McGuire — put a victory within reach. Then Cook hit his own 2-pointer and then the game-winning 3-pointer for Dieterich.
McGuire finished with a game-high 23 points, putting him within 10 points of the 1,000-point career scoring mark. Fellow senior Garrett Pugh added eight points for the Lions. Cook led the Movin' Maroons with 16 points, while Brock Niemerg and Bryce Bonhoff had 11 each.
