Emmanuel Forbes Jr. has been one of the best CBs in NFL since Week 6

Emmanuel Forbes Jr. isn't just playing at well in his first full season with the Los Angeles Rams, he's playing among the best at the cornerback position.

Between Weeks 6 and 12, during the Rams' six-game winning streak, Forbes Jr. ranks in the same tier as Patrick Surtain II and Sauce Gardner when you compare Pro Football Focus pass defended rate vs. passer rating when targeted.

In fact, Forbes Jr.'s passer rating when targeted is the lowest among qualified cornerbacks, per the team's Wyatt Miller. Additionally, per Miller, Forbes Jr.'s pass breakup or interception rate on targets (31.3%) is also the lowest among the group in the chart below.

This excellence is unmistakable on the field. This past week alone, the Rams' cornerback was the first in four seasons not to allow a reception on at least seven targets. He also has three interceptions in the past four games, already the most picks in Forbes' three-year career.

Forbes Jr. has been a revelation in Chris Shula's defense this season, more than a year after the Rams added him to their roster following his release from the Washington Commanders. The 24-year-old former 2023 first-round pick is a big reason why the Rams have allowed the fewest points per game this season. The group of Forbes Jr., Cobie Durant, Darious Williams and safeties Kamren Kinchens and Kam Curl are proving to be an elite unit despite the lack of big-name talent.

If Forbes Jr. continues to perform well, the Rams should consider bringing him back on a good contract when he's eligible at the end of this season or before his rookie deal expires at the end of the 2026 season.
