It’s safe to say the Dallas Cowboys’ gamble on talented, yet sometimes troubled wide receiver George Pickens has more than paid off.

Dallas sent a third-round pick in 2026 and a fifth-rounder in 2027 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for the Georgia alum during the offseason, and 11 games into his tenure with the Cowboys, it’s going better than most expected.

Pickens is one of just two receivers this season to hit the 1,000-yard mark (1,054 yards), and he ranks third in the league in touchdowns (eight), fifth in yards per reception (15.7), and eighth in receptions (67).

Given Pickens’ immediate success, pressure has mounted on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to address his plans for locking up the 24-year-old WR to a long-term contract. And while Jones has made it clear he fully intends to get a deal done with Pickens after the season, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini noted one thing that could potentially make negotiations a little more turbulent.

“The Cowboys are set to give Pickens — who is expected to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday after being limited in practice this week — a contract this offseason,” Russini wrote. “And because nothing in the NFL is ever simple — or boring — guess who his representative is?

“NFL super-agent David Mulugheta. Yep. The same agent who represents Micah Parsons. The same agent Jerry Jones said he didn’t know and didn’t want to talk to during Parsons’ extension discussions over the summer.”

Russini also stated she’s heard there’s no controversy brewing between Jones and Mulugheta and that she expects both sides to handle Pickens’ negotiation professionally.

While that may be true, Jones isn’t someone who likes to feel like anyone—especially an agent—ever got the best of him, and it wouldn’t be surprising if there was still tension between him and Mulugheta, who Jones refused to speak with while negotiating Parsons’ contract.

However, given the fallout of the Parsons trade and the backlash Jones received from his fans, it’s unlikely his bravado will tank another deal with an emerging fan-favorite star.
