By Rachael O'ConnorShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberFashion and fast food aren't usually things that make you think, "Together at last," but that's exactly what's happening.
Fashion retailer Hollister has announced a limited edition merchandise drop—with fast-food chain Taco Bell.
Billed as "the ultimate comfort-meets-cravings collection," the debut collaboration includes graphic T-shirts, fleece hoodies, sweatpants, socks, a key-chain, and Y2K-inspired baggy denim cuts.
The bright, vibrant colors and prints, featuring Taco Bell logos and food items, are aimed at giving a sense of nostalgia, with Carey Collins Krug, chief marketing officer at Hollister parent company Abercrombie & Fitch, saying both brands "have been major players in defining youth culture, so bringing our worlds together is a natural fit."
Luis Restrepo, chief marketing officer at Taco Bell, said in a statement that the company has learned "that nostalgia resonates most when it moves the brand forward," and they are "celebrating what made Taco Bell iconic in the first place, while reimagining it for a new generation."
...The unusual partnership will drop on Cyber Monday, December 1, and will range in price from $14.95 to $79.95.
Hollister and Taco Bell aren't the only companies to have teamed up for fast food fashion, as reported by the website Love Food.
In the past, Crocs launched KFC-inspired footwear, with red-and-white striped platforms, fried chicken print, and drumstick-shaped charms.
Nike previously teamed up with Ben & Jerry's for a limited-edition trainer, and the Anti Social Social Club released a range of Panda Express clothing items.
Italian fashion house Moschino has collaborated with multiple food and drink companies, including Budweiser.
...Taco Bell is among the most popular fast-food chains in the United States by systemwide sales. In 2024, the chain brought in $16.197 billion in sales revenue, beating Wendy's, Dunkin', Chipotle, Burger King, Subway and Domino's, according to data from Statista.
However, it was bested by McDonald's, which remains by far the most popular, having racked in a whopping $53.4 billion in sales revenue.
Starbucks was second, at $31.4 billion, followed by Chick-fil-A at $22.7 billion.
In fashion, Nike was found to be the most popular apparel brand in America, with a Statista survey finding 40 percent of adults had bought clothing, shoes or accessories from the brand in the previous three months.
It just beat out rival Adidas, which had a 35 percent result.
