In a shock evolution, Thor's son Magni just became Marvel's greatest god, with a power-up that will have some major consequences for the Marvel Universe...
Thor's Son Magni Officially Has the All-Power
Thor Has Passed Down Omnipotence to Asgard's God of Strength
THOR'S SON MAGNI FIGHTING TROLLS
In today's The Mortal Thor #4 - from Al Ewing, Juann Cabal, Mattia Iacono and Joe Sabino - Magni officially unlocks Odin's omnipotent All-Power. In the issue, the villainous Ulik (aka Tanarus) attempts to steal Asgard's throne following the death of Thor. At the urging of the treacherous Enchantress, Thor's son Magni ventures underground to defeat Ulik.
THOR'S SON MAGNI SUMMONS THE ALL-POWER
As the King of the Trolls, Ulik claims that he has used a loophole to claim the All-Power left behind by Thor after death, blasting Magni with infinite energy. However, even as Magni experiences incredible pain, he realizes that what he's witnessing is an illusion. Ulik can't have stolen the All-Power, because the All-Power is actually within Magni.
THOR'S SON MAGNI SUMMONS THE ALL-POWER 2
Like Odin before him, Thor has passed the infinite All-Power down to his son, giving Magni the ability to rewrite reality itself. While Magni is still coming to grips with his new power, his battle with Ulik confirms he's able to access this limitless ability.
Magni and the All-Power Explained
Odin gains the All-Power in Immortal Thor #2
In a recent spell intended to resurrect her lost son, Enchantress accidentally summoned Magni to Earth-616. Magni is the son of Thor and Enchantress from a dead timeline where Thor was corrupted and killed the Avengers. The God of Strength, Magni fought against his corrupt father, and is a trusted ally of Earth-616's mainstream Thor.
Thor's son, Magni, swinging his hammer around while threatening an unseen enemy.
Following Loki's murder of Thor in The Immortal Thor #25, Asgard is without a king, and Magni's place as Thor's son makes him the obvious heir. And with Thor reborn on Earth as the mortal Sigurd Jarlson, the All-Power needs a steward, with Thor apparently trusting his son to the task.
thor becomes mortal 3
Formerly wielded by Odin, the All-Power is a limitless ability to define reality. However, it's so powerful that if it's used carelessly, reality itself will be permanently damaged. Because of this, Odin, Thor and now Magni can only access the All-Power in situations where their wisdom is capable of wielding omnipotence in the exact right way.
Our Take on Thor's Son Getting a Huge Upgrade
a recap of how thor's son magni came to exist
With Thor running around on Earth as an amnesiac mortal, Asgard needs a new All-Father, and it's an interesting twist to see Magni considered for the role. That's especially the case because it could be a permanent appointment.
Thor became Asgard's new All-Father in 2019, and it's unlikely he'll stay in the role forever - or even much longer. As All-Father, Thor commands near-limitless power, and Marvel is likely to want to restore his former power level soon. Fans don't want yet another Odin resurrection and a return to status quo, so Thor allowing his son Magni to rule Asgard with the All-Power while he continues on as a godly hero is not just possible - it's the best-case scenario.
However, Magni possessing the All-Power could also be setting up his death. Fans know that the Enchantress is intending to kill her son so as to claim his power and title via godly succession, and now that he's confirmed to possess the All-Power, she has more reason than ever to carry out her plans.
Enchantress contemplates killing her son Magni in Immortal Thor #19
Thor's son just unlocked the ultimate power of the gods, and it could lead to him either becoming the new All-Father of Asgard or being betrayed and killed by his own mother.
The Mortal Thor #4 is available now from Marvel Comics.
