WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Morton, one-half of the legendary Rock 'n' Roll Express, recently shared a concerning health update on social media. The veteran wrestler revealed that he has been dealing with a "significant respiratory issue" that has severely impacted his daily life for the last couple of weeks.

Morton took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to update his WWE fans and followers on his condition. The announcement revealed that he has been struggling with walking pneumonia, a milder form of pneumonia that typically allows patients to remain mobile and continue some routines. However, the illness has taken a more debilitating physical toll on the wrestling legend than the name implies.

“I’ve been fighting walking pneumonia for the past two weeks, and man… it has absolutely kicked my a**," Morton wrote.

The veteran wrestler, known throughout his career for his incredible endurance and willingness to take bumps, detailed the extreme fatigue and physical exhaustion he has experienced while trying to perform even the simplest of household tasks during his recovery.

“Even a walk to the mailbox has felt like a full-on marathon," Morton continued in his post.

Despite the physical struggle, the Hall of Famer remains optimistic about his prognosis and eventual recovery. He expressed a reliance on his faith and a strong determination to get back to full strength. Morton, however, acknowledged that the process is being handled one day at a time, indicating that his full return to his normal schedule is still uncertain.

"Taking it day by day, keeping my faith strong, and trusting this bounce-back is coming," he wrote.

Morton is best known for his career-defining run in the 1980s alongside Robert Gibson as the Rock 'n' Roll Express. The tag team is credited with revolutionizing the psychology and pace of tag team wrestling in North America. Their celebrated feuds with teams like the Midnight Express and the Four Horsemen remain some of the most celebrated and highly-rated programs in wrestling history. The duo was recognized for their legacy and inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

Even in recent years, Morton has remained surprisingly active in the ring, continuing to accept bookings across the independent circuit and working to train the next generation of wrestlers at his school. The Rock 'n' Roll Express as a unit was still taking part in occasional independent shows as recently as the summer.
