The Oklahoma Sooners notched another pivotal win on Saturday, taking down the Missouri Tigers 17-6 at home. With just one game left in the regular season, OU sits at 9-2 overall and 5-2 in the SEC in 2025.

Oklahoma looks like one of the top 10 teams in the country, and a team that would be in the College Football Playoff with a win this week. That thought is reflected in the latest USA TODAY Sports re-rank of all 136 FBS teams after Week 13. Paul Myerberg compiles the list each week, and he has OU as his No. 8 team in the country after beating Mizzou.

Oklahoma’s ranking of eighth puts them at fourth in the SEC behind Texas A&M, Georgia and Ole Miss. Myerberg has a total of eight SEC schools in his top 20, including Alabama Vanderbilt, Texas and Tennessee That’s half of the 16-team conference within the top 20 teams out of 136 programs.

After winning over Missouri, the Sooners are set to tango with another team of Tigers, this time from LSU. The Tigers beat Western Kentucky 13-10 last week at home. Oklahoma is 1-3 all-time against the Bayou Bengals. The Sooners won the Sugar Bowl after the 1949 season 35-0, but they lost the Sugar Bowl that served as the BCS National Championship Game for the 2003 season by a score of 21-14.

In 2019, the teams met in the CFP semifinal at the Peach Bowl, where the eventual champion Tigers dismounted the Sooners 63-28. That was the last time OU appeared in the playoff. Last year’s meeting in Baton Rouge was the first regular season game between the two historic programs, with the Tigers winning 37-17 in the only game so far in the series not played at a neutral site. LSU makes its first-ever trip to Norman on Saturday, as the teams have met in the regular season finale in each of the last two years now.

Oklahoma and LSU will tee it up at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Norman, and the game will be broadcast on ABC. With another afternoon kick, it means that the Sooners were not given a home primetime conference game in 2025, despite their resurgent season. OU has only played one primetime home game all season, beating Michigan on Owen Field back in September. However, the Sooners are once again on national television on ABC, marking the eighth time overall they’ve been on that network in 2025, including seven out of eight their regular season SEC games. The South Carolina game was the only exception.
