The Texas Rangers decided to non-tender Adolis García.

While it wasn’t the worst idea because of how poorly García has played in recent years, some team around Major League Baseball will definitely give him an opportunity to come in and make an impact on their roster.

Just a few years ago, García was viewed as a very good player in the league, so two tough years don’t necessarily change that.

According to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, he’s an option for the Tigers this winter. Petzold believes García is one of five new free agents Detroit could target in its search for talent this offseason.

“If the Tigers want a right-handed power bat in the outfield – making Kerry Carpenter the everyday designated hitter and pushing Wenceel Pérez into a bench role – García fits the profile, though he wouldn't help solve their strikeout problem.

"He isn't worth the estimated $12 million that the Rangers would've had to pay him in his final year of salary arbitration, but he should land a cheap one-year deal as a bounce-back candidate. From 2021-23, García produced a 10.6 fWAR, ranking 40th among 226 qualifying hitters,” he wrote.

As Petzold touched on, the Tigers certainly have some questions in the outfield, and it wouldn’t be the worst idea to bring in a right-handed bat, considering that’s what the team has been lacking in recent years.

García obviously has some concerns, but if he figures things out, he’s still a very good player.
