Everton have confirmed the chief executive of their women's team, Hannah Forshaw, is to leave the club at the end of the season.

She only began her role at the start of this Women's Super League campaign.

"The decision was reached following discussions between Hannah and the club, with both parties in agreement a different long-term direction was appropriate, but that a smooth transition to a new leadership structure can be supported by Hannah remaining as CEO for the current campaign," a statement said.

"The club will provide an update on changes to the leadership structure of Everton Women at the appropriate time later in the season."

There was a wave of optimism surrounding the Toffees at the start of the campaign after showing ambition in the transfer window under new ownership The Friedkin Group, as well as making Goodison Park their permanent home.

However, after winning their opening league game away to Liverpool, Brian Sorensen's side have now gone eight matches without a victory and sit 10th in the table.

Speaking to BBC Sport in September, Forshaw said: "This is the best job in the world. I am incredibly lucky to be here. I'm backed by the ownership group, the team at Everton men's side, the fantastic squad, Brian."
