Pirates of the Caribbean first set sail as a franchise over 20 years ago with the release of The Curse of the Black Pearl, and things continued with four more movies until things came to a head in 2017 with Dead Men Tell No Tales. There have been whispers of another Pirates of the Caribbean movie from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, perhaps one that will even return Johnny Depp to his role as Jack Sparrow, but it’s unclear at this time if it will ever make it out of the development stage. Since the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, studios have been trying to recreate the magic of the high seas from director Gore Verbinski, and Prime Video may have done just that with the premiere of its latest original film.

Just yesterday, Prime Video released The Bluff, the long-awaited swashbuckling historical epic starring Karl Urban (The Boys) and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas (Citadel). The film follows a Caribbean woman who has her mysterious past brought back into her life when a vicious buccaneer who used to run with her catches up to her on a small, remote island. The film currently sits at moderate scores of 68% from critics and 77% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s already taken the top streaming spot on Prime Video one day after its premiere. It’s shaping up to be Prime Video’s biggest sleeper hit of the year so far, and it’s perfect for fans missing the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Doomsday) serve as producers on The Bluff, along with recent Academy Award winner Zoe Saldaña. Chopra-Jones also produces the film.

What Else Is Streaming on Prime Video Right Now?

To reach the top spot on Prime Video, The Bluff had to sail past The Wrecking Crew, the ambitious Hawaii-set crime thriller starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. Dwayne Johnson’s failed Oscar bait, The Smashing Machine, is also flying up the Prime Video streaming charts right now following a successful run on HBO Max. Prime Video also has new seasons of Fallout and Cross that are still in the top five, as well as the new thriller, Steal, featuring Game of Thrones veteran Sophie Turner. Tom Hiddleston’s The Night Manager Season 2 is also in the Prime top 10 right now.
