The devil's work is never done — rather, it's just getting started. Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is only a month away, and there's an extra air of excitement surrounding it. While Season 1 marked the long-awaited grounded and gritty return of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) with the level of violence expected of the original Netflix series, it still couldn't fully escape the shadows of its troubled development. Now, showrunner Dario Scardapane and directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will have the opportunity to start fresh and deliver something that's entirely their vision for the Man Without Fear, without the remnants of a scrapped iteration interwoven with their work. To prepare viewers for what's expected to be a bigger, better, and more brutal season, we're excited to include the show as part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event for upcoming spring television titles and share a new image.

Born Again Season 2 will pick up in the direct aftermath of Season 1, after Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) declared martial law in New York City and unleashed his Anti-Vigilante Task Force on the streets. The only hope of opposing his reign is by assembling an army. Along with his longtime partner and love interest, Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Matt will be on the hunt for any allies ready to go to war against the Kingpin. That most notably includes Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), making her long-awaited return to television to kick ass with her old Defenders teammate. In fighting Fisk, they're not just out to stop a corrupt villain, but to save the soul of New York and its people from a man looking to twist it in his image. Reflecting this darker chapter that appears to pull from the Devil's Reign comic storyline, our exclusive image shows Matt standing in the glow of a streetlamp in his classic, comic-accurate, full black suit.

Further complicating matters are new power players in New York like Mr. Charles, played by Scream icon Matthew Lillard. Although Lillard's role has been shrouded in some mystery, he's poised to be more than a threat to Daredevil and his allies, but also a rival for Fisk. Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum said as much in a previous interview, revealing that Charles represents the new level of international actors the Kingpin is now operating on as the leader of one of the U.S.'s most important cities. With Benjamin Poindexter (Wilson Bethel) back on the street and also evading the AVTF, there will be a lot of moving parts for Matt and Karen to contend with in Season 2.

Who Else Could Be Joining the Devil's Army in 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2?

Reuniting with Jones is a good start, but Daredevil will need a lot more soldiers to pose a real threat to Wilson Fisk. Although Season 1 set up a plausible motivation for The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) to get involved, Season 2 unfortunately won't see Frank returning to get back at Fisk's corrupt cops, who idolize him. One likely recruit, however, is Angela del Toro (Camilla Rodriguez), who's primed to take up the mantle of White Tiger after her uncle, Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes), was executed by a police officer. The trailer also hinted that Jack Duquesne (Tony Dalton), better known as the Swordsman, would raise his blade on the side of justice, at least once Matt springs him from Fisk's grasp. With Ritter back in the fold, it's impossible to totally rule out an appearance from Mike Colter or Finn Jones as Luke Cage and Ironfist either. Winderbaum has teased that Marvel wants to reintegrate the Defenders, after all, meaning there may be a surprise or two for the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
