A new special features clip from the Star Trek: Voyager documentary reveals provocative quotes from Kate Mulgrew and the cast. 455 Films' To The Journey: Looking Back at Star Trek: Voyager is a labor of love that was financed since 2021 by the most successful Indiegogo campaign of all time.

To The Journey: Looking Back at Star Trek: Voyager hosted premieres for backers that included the executive producers and cast of Star Trek: Voyager in November 2024. In spring 2025, Indiegogo backers received digital copies of the documentary to help mark the 30th anniversary of Star Trek: Voyager. Meanwhile, a DVD and Blu-ray release has been a journey as tumultuous as the USS Voyager's flight through the Delta Quadrant.

On YouTube, The Transporter Room premiered a 5-minute clip of the upcoming special features for To The Journey: Looking Back at Star Trek: Voyager's physical media release, which was first seen on the Star Trek Cruise. The footage is collected from the numerous interviews 455 Films conducted with Star Trek: Voyager's cast, and George Takei, who guested in the Voyager season 2 episode, "Flashback."

Here's a sampling of the candid, eyebrow-raising quotes from Star Trek: Voyager's actors, the late executive producer and showrunner Jeri Taylor, and more:

Robert Duncan McNeill: “You’re gonna work with Kate Mulgrew, and she’s going to lean into you and say, ‘What would you die for?’”

Jeri Taylor: “You sit and listen to endless, dull, unworkable stories by people who can neither conceive a story nor articulate it very well. So it’s a deadly process very often. But we needed ideas.”

Jeri Ryan: “The four years on Voyager, it was not an easy four years. It was not a super pleasant all the time four years.”

Kate Mulgrew: “Janeway suffered. And she also had a lot of fun suffering. Make no mistake about it.”

Robert Picardo: “There was a lot of discussion about whether or not you could see someone’s butt crack on an eight o’clock Star Trek show.”

George Takei: “Oh, you have a deep voice. Anyone with a voice that deep must have a big dong.”

Faced with many obstacles in securing a DVD and Blu-ray distributor, 455 Films opted to release To The Journey: Looking Back at Star Trek: Voyager themselves. Producer and co-director David Zappone told ScreenRant that backers will be offered 3 hours of special features rather than the 2 hours originally promised.

Zappone also said that the Star Trek: Voyager documentary will boast an additional 3 hours of new content, including a feature-length "mini-doc" about George Takei. The extras may be offered as an extra digital download for fans who want all 7 hours of content, including the To The Journey documentary. On January 28th, Zappone said they are now "close to announcing a release date."

Star Trek: Voyager's legend and esteem among Trekkers has only grown in the 25 years since the series signed off on the UPN Network. Streaming has introduced Voyager to a new generation of fans, including a multitude of girls and women who were inspired to pursue careers in STEM thanks to Captain Janeway and Seven of Nine.

The profound influence of Star Trek: Voyager can be felt in newer shows like Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which stars Robert Picardo reprising his iconic role as The Doctor.

To The Journey: Looking back on Star Trek: Voyager promises to be an all-encompassing look at the legacy of Captain Janeway's landmark series that every Trekker who loves Star Trek: Voyager will want to own.
