Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for DC K.O. #4DC's latest crossover just crowned its most powerful character with a major cosmic upgrade. As seen in the brutal K.O. crossover event, a surprising victor was just named "King Omega" ahead of the final issue releasing next month.
In DC K.O., multiple heroes and villains were chosen to compete in the "King Omega" tournament, fighting each other in multiple elimination rounds culminating in a single victor who'd then be granted power rivaling Darkseid. For the heroes, this would allow a chosen victor to prevent Darkseid's imminent destruction of the DC Universe.
Although a hero going the distance was the Justice League's plan, the final victor has just been named in the penultimate issue of DC K.O. (and it doesn't look good).
DC Comics Just Crowned Lex Luthor As The Newest "King Omega"
As seen in DC K.O. #4, the Absolute Universe's Trinity served as Darkseid's Horsemen, clashing with the main DC Universe Trinity in this latest round of the King Omega tournament.
These darker new heroes were eventually freed from the Lord of Apokolips' influence, resulting in both Trinities uniting against Darkseid. However, the heroes of both realities ended up falling one by one to Darkseid, leaving only Superman left standing...and Lex Luthor.
Protected from Darkseid’s Omega beams by standing behind Superman, Lex Luthor was one of the DC tournament's Final Four alongside Wonder Woman, The Joker, and the Man of Steel himself. Seeing the clear opportunity in front of him with his arch-foe so weakened, Luthor betrays and kills Superman, granting him the title of King Omega as decreed by the Heart of Apokolips.
Having been granted power presumably rivaling Darkseid, Lex Luthor is now capable of reshaping reality however he sees fit, just like Darkseid used the Heart of Apokolips' power to create the Absolute Universe. As such, there's literally no telling how the final issue of DC K.O. is going to go, nor what the aftermath will be.
Lex Luthor vs Darkseid: Which King Omega Will Win It All?
Now, the only obstacle left in Luthor's path to becoming the most powerful DC character of all time appears to be Darkseid himself. Likewise, the final issue of DC K.O. promises a full-scale war between King Omegas, setting the stage for one of DC’s most explosive finales in years.
Of course, some major twists are clearly coming. Regardless, it's going to be fascinating to see the result once the dust settles from this major status quo shift, not only for Lex Luthor, but for the DC Universe at large.
