Minnesota Vikings focus on DBs in latest mock draft from The Athletic

With the NFL Combine just a few short weeks away, the real kickoff to the pre-draft process is about to begin. But one of the best parts of this process starts shortly after the Super Bowl, which is the mock drafts being released. Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic has released his mock draft, and he has the Minnesota Vikings hitting the secondary in the first round.

Baumgardner has the Vikings selecting Mansoor Delane, a cornerback from LSU, with their first-round pick. Delane is widely regarded as one of the top cornerback prospects in this draft cycle, so his landing in Minnesota is massive for Brian Flores and this defense. Delane is a menace in man-to-man coverage, as he constantly looks to disrupt the pass and seeks out turnovers.

His opportunistic, physical play blends well with this secondary and is just what the doctor ordered.

By the time the Minnesota Vikings pick in April, Delane is likely off the board. However, if he is still there, they need to sprint to turn in his card. Delane would immediately become the top cornerback for the Vikings and is a massive building block for a secondary that is in need of a revamp, as there are multiple pending free agents this offseason.
