Feb. 11—BEMIDJI — The Bemidji State women's tennis team's Paula Garcia Acebal has started her collegiate career off well, especially after her performance last weekend.
Garcia Acebal was named the NSIC Player of the Week after going undefeated against Minnesota Morris and Minnesota Crookston.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAgainst UMM, the freshman defeated Allison Bruhn in singles 6-1, 6-1. In doubles, she and Marla Davies defeated the Courgars' No. 1 doubles team 6-0.
Garcia Acebal scored a comeback victory in singles against Minnesota Crookston's Asli Oktay 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. She picked up another doubles win, this time with sophomore Lauren Rutten.
BSU has earned back-to-back player of the week nods, the first time in program history. Mia Leshem was
honored last week
after wins against St. Scholastica and Minnesota Duluth.
