“The league was more competitive this year. There were three games we could have lost, but we were able to pull them out at the end.” Fisher Catholic coach Ben Bethel said. “We were down 20 points against Wellington, down 35-15, and we came back and won by one. I’m Proud of our girls for winning another league title and earning the No. 1 seed because we lost a couple of good players to graduation.”

Fisher Catholic played its final regular season game Feb. 11 against visiting Washington Court House and fell 51-43. The score was tied at the end of the first quarter, but the Blue Lions were able to pull away in the second quarter to take a 28-17 halftime lead.

The Irish cut the deficit to 41-34 heading into the fourth quarter. With 1:33 remaining, the Irish cut the margin to 49-43, thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers from Gillum and Ava Warrens, and had a couple of chances to cut into the lead even more, but came up short.

Gillum led the way with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Snoke chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds.

The Irish will be off more than a week before they begin tournament play at home against Liberty Christian at 4 p.m. Feb. 21.
