The route to this record wasn't glamorous and happened right under all our noses.

Tonight, the Seattle Seahawks took on the New England Patriots at Levi Stadium in San Francisco. This game promised to put two of the more solid defenses in the NFL up against each other.

What many didn't expect was for those defenses to produce one of the most boring Super Bowls in history.

Neither team was able to find the endzone in the entire first half, and it took until the 4th quarter for anyone to do so. What was happening in the meantime was that Seahawks kicker Jason Myers was quietly marching towards Super Bowl History.

Jason Myers sets NFL history with Super Bowl performance

With the Seahawks offense unable to reach the endzone, Jason Myers came in clutch for his team as he had so many times before this season.

With five total field goals made, Myers now holds the record for most field goals made in Super Bowl history.

Many kickers have had four field goals, like Jake Elliott, Harrison Butker, Ray Wersching, and Don Chandler. Tonight, Myers set himself apart with the best kicking performance the big game has ever seen.

It's yet to be seen whether or not he'll walk away with the Super Bowl MVP award tonight, but I can't think of anyone more deserving.
