MADISON — Wisconsin volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield had an excellent reason to be late to his weekly press conference.
One of his athletes, Mimi Colyer, was the first overall pick in the Major League Volleyball draft.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“Just had an exciting draft party for Mimi going overall No. 1 draft pick in Major League Volleyball, which is really cool,” Sheffield said. “She’s worked hard and put herself in a great position to take her game to the next level and be challenged at the next level.”
That was just the beginning of the excitement for volleyball players from Wisconsin and Marquette and others with strong ties to the state. Here is a list of notable players who were selected in the four-round, 32-pick draft on Nov. 24:
Wisconsin outside hitter Mimi Colyer
Round: 1
Overall pick: 1
Team: Dallas Pulse
Wisconsin’s Mimi Colyer made history when the expansion Dallas Pulse selected her with the team’s first-ever draft pick. Colyer is in the midst of an elite senior season with Wisconsin after transferring from Oregon. She is averaging 5.37 kills per set while hitting .332.
Wisconsin middle blocker Carter Booth
Round: 3

Team: Dallas Pulse
The Pulse picked another Badger as Carter Booth heard her name called in the third round. The 6-foot-7 middle blocker is one of Wisconsin’s two captains and is hitting a team-high .435. That hitting percentage also ranks 11th nationally and second in the Big Ten.
Marquette middle blocker Hattie Bray
Round: 4
Overall pick: 25
Team: Grand Rapids Rise
Hattie Bray was the first pick of the fourth round after leading the Big East in 2025 with 1.22 blocks per set and ranking fourth in the league with a .373 hitting percentage. Bray will reunite with former MU teammate Jenna Reitsma, who was recently named the Rise’s director of volleyball operations.

The Omaha Supernovas drafted Kiara Reinhardt, a Cedarburg native, with the eighth-overall pick (and last pick of the first round). The 6-foot-3 middle blocker recently helped the Bluejays claim a Big East tournament title at the Al McGuire Center.
Brooke Mosher, a Waterloo native, was the Supernovas’ second-round pick. Mosher has played her redshirt senior season at Pittsburgh after spending four years at Illinois.
Madison native Claire Ammeraal was the 22nd-overall pick in the MLV draft. The Supernovas’ third-round selection has played at Iowa for the last two seasons after starting her career at Central Michigan.
