It was a successful night for both Pittsburg basketball teams.

Against Indianola, the girls picked up a 62-37 win and the boys won 65-38.

GIRLS

The first quarter was close; the Lady Cougars led 14-9 over the Lady Warriors at the end of the period. It was the second quarter which saw Pittsburg’s run.

Spearheaded by Taylynn Conder’s 10-points, the Lady Panthers scored 22 points to Indianola’s 12 points in the second.

Pittsburg came back down to earth in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Warriors 13-11.

Defense picked up for the Lady Panthers in the fourth as they allowed only five points to their 13.

Conder led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 20 points. Taibree Melton scored 12, Paige Barron scored 11 points.

BOYS

The Cougars jumped out to an 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. They extended their lead in the second quarter, which gave them a 32-30 halftime advantage over the Warriors.

Pittsburg kept the momentum rolling in the second half as they outscored Indianola 15-8 in the third quarter and 18-9 in the fourth.

Karson Johnson led the Cougars in scoring with 17 points. Logan Trammell had 12 and Aiden Whitmore had 11 points.

Pittsburg plays again Thursday at LeFlore.
