Wednesday’s news that Ohio State Buckeyes offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Brian Hartline is becoming the new head coach for the USF Bulls isn’t the kind of coaching move that causes waves throughout the profession, but it is causing waves in the recruiting world on Early Signing Day.
The ace recruiter played a crucial role in landing numerous elite prospects for the Buckeyes, including top 150-prospect Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, a wide receiver from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei who flipped from Ohio State to USC on Wednesday.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Texas made a large NIL offer to Henry, the nation’s No. 10 prospect and No. 1 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite rankings, despite gaining little traction in the 6’5, 205-pounder’s recruitment since offering early last year.
Longhorns wide receivers coach Chris Jackson is a Mater Dei alum, a tie that has allowed him to forge some semblance of a relationship with Henry, but it’s not clear whether that relationship is strong enough to factor into Henry’s decision beyond the monetary offer from Texas.

Early Signing Day isn’t Early Signing Day without some type of high-profile drama, and this certainly qualifies.
