Another talented legacy is officially calling Tallahassee home next season.

Devin Carter is a 6’1”, 175-pound wide receiver who plays for Douglas County in Douglasville, Georgia. A four-star prospect, he is considered the 232nd best player in the nation by 247Sports Composite (36th best WR, 29th best player in GA). Carter originally chose the Seminoles in April 2023 over the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, and Tennessee Volunteers, and later saw his offer list swell into the upper 30s in total.

He reopened his recruitment in January 2024 and eventually pledged to the Auburn Tigers and their stud recruiter/WR coach Marcus Davis (formerly of FSU) during the Navy All-American Bowl. Getting Carter in on an official visit in early June was huge, and getting him to flip back to FSU on June 23 was a massive victory for Mike Norvell, Gus Malzahn and Tim Harris. Carter is the son of former Seminole star and RB Coach Dexter Carter and has continuously visited campus throughout the past few years, regardless of his commitment status.

Carter profiles as a strong route runner with a gliding gait and deceptive shiftiness. I love the concentration he has when fighting for jump balls and he has strong hands to rip away from defenders. He’s likely to do most of his damage in the medium-long range passing game. I feel he can eventually grow into a starter and become a reliable, high-floor receiver.

Limited to seven games due to injuries, Carter finished his senior season with 26 catches for 431 yards (16.6 average) and five touchdowns. He transferred to Douglas County ahead of his junior year, which saw him accumulate 41 catches for 669 yards and five touchdowns. Carter played significant snaps as a freshman on varsity, helping lead the team to an appearance in the state title game in Georgia. He finished his first year with 32 catches for 325 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also ran track.
