Avengers: Doomsday will feature multiple versions of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and we now have the details about who is on Captain America's new Marvel team, though I believe there might be a twist to it. In Captain America: Brave New World, the first of the MCU's 2025 movies, Sam Wilson was asked by Harrison Ford's Thunderbolt Ross to restart the Avengers.

By the end of the film, Sam decides to do it, but on his own terms. Aside from recruiting his new best friend, Joaquin Torres, aka the MCU's new Falcon, no one else was announced for Captain America's Avengers team. That mystery continued for many months, given the lack of Avengers: Doomsday story reveals. However, things might have finally changed.

Captain America's New Avengers Team Has Seemingly Been Revealed

At a Disney event in Italy, it seems like the studio let Sam Wilson's Avengers team slip. According to Disney, Captain America and Falcon's new Avengers team will be joined by Thor, Loki, Shang-Chi, and Ant-Man in Avengers: Doomsday. That is quite the surprising group of characters for Sam's Avengers, with no female heroes and different power levels.

Out of the four announced characters, Thor serves the role of being the only original Avenger officially confirmed by Marvel to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Ant-Man was crucial to saving the universe in Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi makes sense as one of the most powerful new heroes of the Multiverse Saga, and Loki is a major surprise due to his multiverse protector status.

Why Captain America's Avengers Team Might Not Be Fully Accurate

While it was clearly stated at the Disney event that these heroes were given the "The Heroic Avengers" label, with no other confirmed characters for Avengers: Doomsday included, that might not be fully accurate. The reason for that is that every other group showcased for the movie at the Disney event was very clear: The Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Thunderbolts, and the Wakandans.

Every single one of those groups is distinct and could not hold any of the characters defined as Avengers. As such, it could have made sense for the presentation to group the remaining heroes together under the Avengers label, instead of leaving one or two out, such as Loki, who does not seem as clear-cut an Avengers choice as the rest.

Additionally, characters like Shuri, the MCU's new Black Panther, also make sense for the new Avengers roster, despite her being grouped separately. The event also emphasized that only part of Avengers: Doomsday's cast was revealed by Marvel. As such, Captain America's team could grow once the unannounced characters are added to the equation. While the Avengers: Doomsday update is exciting, it might not tell the whole story.
