By Cole SullivanShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberWith the college football regular season coming to a close, the stage is set for high-stakes matchups this weekend, highlighted by the conference championship games.
One of the biggest games will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, where the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs will face the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship.
The two teams last met in the SEC title game in 2023, an instant classic that Alabama won 27-24. The Crimson Tide are 4-0 all-time against Georgia in conference championships and also defeated them earlier this year in Athens, 24-21.
Despite Georgia’s strong season, former head coach and current CBS Sports analyst Rick Neuheisel believes Alabama has too much on the line and will come away with a decisive victory on Saturday.
“We’ve watched this game before. This year, not in years past, Alabama controlled the clock… they were terrific on third down. To me, if they don’t pressure Ty Simpson, it’s going to be more of the same. Alabama needs this win more than Georgia does… I’m taking them,” Neuheisel said.

While Georgia has already secured a spot in the College Football Playoff, Alabama could be playing for its season on Saturday. A loss wouldn’t necessarily eliminate them, but it would add plenty of drama in Tuscaloosa heading into Sunday’s selection show.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Alabama enters the matchup as a slight 2 1/2-point underdog, with the over/under set at 47 1/2
The game kicks off at 4 p.m. EST on ABC and will be followed by the Big Ten Championship featuring No. 1 Ohio State against No. 2 Indiana.
