Finding and unlocking the blue chests in Octopath Traveler 0 may be quite the task, especially because you won’t be able to access them in the early stages of the game, but you will be tempted to open them once you see them. These blue chests start appearing quite early on in the story, so it’s easy to lose track of them as you progress through the campaign following the release of Octopath Traveler 0.

As such, you’ll see these blue locked chests multiple times as you complete quests and recruit new characters to form your desired party in Octopath Traveler 0. However, if you want to reap their rewards, you’ll be required to return to their locations after you complete a specific task that will allow you to unlock them.

Don’t Lose Track Of The Blue Treasure Chests

There are several blue locked chests across Orsterra, and they all appear in affixed locations, so you won’t be limited to any luck in finding them. You should spot these fairly easily, especially if you’re the type of player who explores every map to its full extent. This is one of the features in Octopath Traveler 0 that was borrowed from the mobile game, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.

There are many blue locked chests in the game, each with its own set of rewards. It’s good to take note of where they are so that you can return and claim their rewards once you complete the prerequisites that allow you to open them. This journey should take you all across the game’s map – a small portion of which can be seen in the Octopath Traveler 0 demo.

Restoring Wishvale Is The Key To Opening The Locked Chests

To unlock the blue chests in the game, you’ll be required to improve Wishvale’s restoration level. The game lets you know early on that Blue Treasure Chests can be found all over Orsterra, but that restoring Wishvale is what allows you to open them. The game doesn’t say when this happens, but you will be required to progress significantly within the campaign before being able to open them.

You can expect to spend a few dozen hours playing, beat the triad of villains, and continue the journey before even being able to see them open. I personally recommend having them as an afterthought, and once you do restore Wishvale to the standard that the game requires you to, only then consider returning to these spots. There’s a lot to see and do in Octopath Traveler 0, so don’t worry about missing out on rewards if you can’t open these locked chests immediately.
