Netflix’s Stranger Things is inching towards its finale, but thanks to a few low-profile series inspired by the show, there’s strong potential for a new spin-off, meaning fans might not have to say goodbye to Hawkins just yet.
For those desperate for more Stranger Things content, they should seriously consider checking out Jody Houser’s Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins (2023) and Derek Fridolfs’ Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins 2 (2025) mini-series, each featuring four issues.
Both series follow the same format, with each issue presenting a different, self-contained horror/sci‑fi story set in the town of Hawkins that falls outside the main scope of the show. For 90s and 2000s kids, Tales from Hawkins is essentially the Stranger Things take on Goosebumps.
Shows Like Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone Prove Tales From Hawkins Would Be a TV Hit

Tales from Hawkins would honestly be the perfect way for Netflix to keep the Hawkins universe alive, as standalone stories in the science fiction TV genre have already proven successful with iconic, fan-favorite series like The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, which both follow the format in which each episode is a standalone story.
Hence, the anthology format of Tales from Hawkins would be extremely easy to adapt and would bring a Hawkins-twist to one of the most beloved and long-standing TV genres. Such a series would also feel familiar yet fresh, as it would tell the stories featuring recognizable Stranger Things lore from unexpected perspectives all while capturing the tone and mystery fans already love.
Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins 2 Synopsis: “The first of four new weird tales from Hawkins, Indiana-A small town that keeps getting stranger. After shaking off a mysterious encounter with a strange "dog" while out at the Drive-In Cinema, Hawkins science teacher Scott Clarke is inspired to teach his students all about how 3D glasses work and it spirals into theories about alternate dimensions and how they might be perceived. Dustin keeps secret that the weird "dog" could be nothing other than Dart, his missing pet demodog.”
Why Netflix Should Take the Leap on a Stranger Things Spin-Off

Depending on how Stranger Things season five concludes, there’s always the possibility that the premise of Tales from Hawkins could be adapted in a way that allows fan-favorite characters to return. While the comics don’t focus on the events of the main show, that doesn’t mean a Tales from Hawkins series couldn’t be adapted to be more closely connected to the TV series.
Some fans may be wary of a Stranger Things spin-off, believing nothing could live up to the original’s hype. While that may be partially true, a spin-off shouldn’t be discounted. Series like Better Call Saul from Breaking Bad and House of the Dragon from Game of Thrones have proven that spin-offs can meet expectations and give a franchise new life after the original ends.
Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins 2 is now available from Dark Horse Comics!
