It’s Tiger Woods’ week even though he won’t take a single swing. The 15-time major champ is the host of the Hero World Challenge and was on hand early in the week to sit down and talk with the assembled media, talking about the state of the PGA Tour, his health and his chances of being the next U.S. Ryder Cup captain.
Aside from Woods, there is a star-studded 20-player field playing for a $5 million purse with the winner taking home $1 million at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion and is back again this week, playing for the first time since the Ryder Cup. Scheffler hasn’t finished worse than second place at the Hero in the last four years.

Aside from Scheffler, Hideki Matsuyama (2016) and Jordan Spieth (2014) are the only other past champions of the event playing this week. Keegan Bradley is playing, coming off a solid performance on Black Friday at the revamped Skins Game. Billy Horschel is playing on a sponsor invite and is ranked No. 45 in the world. The top 50 at the end of the year will be invited to the Masters.
