Heading into free agency after the 2025 season, the Seattle Mariners have made moves in signing first baseman Josh Naylor to a brand new five-year deal, as well as showing signs towards pursuing Jorge Polanco on a new deal after declining his player option in 2026.

So what could this mean for the hard-hitting 34-year-old who hit a career high 49 home runs in 2025? His capabilities at the plate will be something that teams are interested in.

Free agent 3B Eugenio Suarez is linked to the Pittsburgh Pirates
In his second tenure with the Seattle Mariners in 2025, he contributed in a positive way during the back half of the regular season as well as the postseason.

It appears that he won't be going back to Seattle in 2026. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand mentioned that the Pittsburgh Pirates could be the team he lands with this winter.
"All signs point to the Pirates spending some money in free agency this winter, and given their need for offense, adding a two-time All-Star who slugged 49 home runs last season would be an ideal place to start," the insider wrote.
Pittsburgh parted ways with its long-time third baseman, Ke'Bryan Hayes, at the trade deadline last season, sending him to the Cincinnati Reds. Currently, the team is rolling with Jared Triolo and Nick Yorke to take over the responsibilities at the position.
