Bryan Johnson, the US millionaire trying to live as long as possible, live streamed himself tripping on magic mushrooms.

The 47-year-old took 5.43g of the fungi on Sunday and then spent six hours being filmed as he went through the various stages of the trip.

Thousands of people watched via his social media channels as he sat on a sofa speaking about what he was feeling, struggling to speak at all, playing with a slinky and at one point lying down on a mattress with an eye mask on.

Both before and after the trip Bryan had his biometrics measured to see what effect the mushrooms were having on his body and if they were helping in his anti-ageing efforts.

The biohacker was joined via video by musician Grimes, who played a DJ set towards the end of the trip, and three tech founders – Marc Benioff, Naval Ravikant and David Friedberg.

‘I hope he survives for a long time and then gives us the cheat codes.’

His business partner Kate Tolo, meanwhile, sat with him the whole time to check he was OK throughout the process.

The mushrooms contained 28mg of psilocybin, which is converted into psilocin in the body, causing the psychedelic effects by interacting with serotonin receptors in the brain. 

A study published this year by scientists from Baylor College of Medicine in Texas and Emory University in Georgia found that psilocybin extended both cellular and animal lifespan, even when the treatment was started late in life.

This is the second time Bryan has taken mushrooms and documented the process, but the first experiment, earlier this month, wasn’t livestreamed.

Instead he posted photos and later said the drug made him ‘feel like a kid [again], finding and exploring a new playground’ as all of his senses were heightened’.

He added that the ‘experience was exhilarating. Positive in every way’.

Magic mushrooms are allowed for limited use in some US states, although not in California, where Bryan lives. It is not however clear where the livestream was filmed or where the mushrooms were bought.

Last year Bryan underwent a ‘total plasma exchange’, which involved replacing all of his plasma with a protein-based substance called Albumin in an effort to remove ‘unnatural pollutants’ from his body.

It followed a failed experiment in 2023 to swap blood with his teenage son, after the process was found to have no real benefits.

Bryan has become the most visible member of the ‘anti-aging’ movement which is becoming increasingly in popular with the super.

He follows an incredibly strict routine overseen by a team of doctors which includes daily exercise, a vegan diet and swallowing more than 100 supplements every day.
