December 2025 is ending a great year of movies with the theatrical release of a highly anticipated horror sequel, a new SpongeBob movie, the latest entry in the Avatar franchise, a Timothée Chalamet movie, and more. 2025 saw the release of some long-awaited movies, not just sequels and remakes, but also original works.
November 2025 welcomed exciting movies in theaters, such as Predator: Badlands, Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, the third Now You See Me movie, the second part of Wicked, and Disney’s Zootopia 2. December will bring a bit of everything, such as horror with the return of possessed animatronics, a new adventure in the world of Avatar, a different reboot of an action movie, and more.

The sequel to 2023’s Five Nights at Freddy’s is finally coming to theaters in December. Directed by Emma Tammi, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is set a year after the first movie, and reunites viewers with Mike (Josh Hutcherson), his sister Abby (Piper Rubio), and police officer Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail).
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 sees Abby reconnecting with her animatronic friends, as Mike hasn’t told her the truth about them, but this reunion unleashes old horrors. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 introduces new animatronics and takes a look at the backstory of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
Hamnet
Hamnet Will Be Released On December 5, 2025
Hamnet is a historical drama movie directed by Chloé Zhao and based on Maggie O’Farrell’s 2020 novel of the same name. Hamnet tells the story of Agnes Shakespeare (Jessie Buckley) and William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal), after their young son, the title Hamnet, dies from the plague.
Agnes Shakespeare’s real name was Anne Hathaway, and she's referred to as “Agnes” as seen in her father’s will.
The movie, then, follows their grieving process, the impact of Hamnet’s death on their relationship, and how it inspired William to write Hamlet. Hamnet got a limited theatrical release on November 26, 2025, and it will get a wide release on December 5.

Silent Night, Deadly Night is the second remake of the 1984 movie of the same name and the seventh installment in the franchise. Silent Night, Deadly Night introduces viewers to Billy Chapman (Rohan Campbell), who witnesses his parents’ murder at the hands of Santa Claus.
This ignites in Billy a twisted sense of justice, and makes it his life mission to spread fear during the holidays by dressing up as Santa and going on a murder spree. Starring alongside Campbell in Silent Night, Deadly Night are Ruby Modine, March Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson.

However, the famous ghost tries to use SpongeBob’s innocent soul to lift his curse, and for that, he takes SpongeBob into the underworld. The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants is the fourth movie in the franchise.

Once more directed by James Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash reunites the audience with Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), who are grieving Neteyam’s death. In addition to that, they come across a new and aggressive Na’vi tribe: the Mangkwan, also known as “Ash People.”
The clan is led by Varang (Oona Chaplin), who has allied with Jake’s enemy, Quaritch (Stephen Lang), and the conflict in Pandora only grows. Avatar: Fire and Ash is the first in a planned trilogy of Avatar sequels
