Where Alabama sits in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after Illinois win

The Alabama Crimson Tide rebounded from their first loss of the 2025-26 college basketball season with a resounding 90-86 road win over the Illinois Fighting Illini at United Center in Chicago.

For Nate Oats' Crimson Tide (3-1), the game against Illinois was Alabama's third straight contest against a top 10 team. The Tide face another top 10 opponent Monday at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas: coach Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Alabama erased a nine-point first half deficit to take down the Illini behind 24 points from Labaron Philon, 19 of which came in the second half. Philon was 9-of-18 from the field and made three 3-pointers.

Four other Crimson Tide players finished in double figures: Taylor Bol Bowen had 12 points, Aden Holloway added 11 and was 4-of-11 from the field, and Houston Mallette and Keitenn Bristow had 10 apiece.

Alabama rose two spots to No. 9 in the Week 4 USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after its road win over Illinois to reenter the top 10. The Crimson Tide are ranked one spot behind the No. 8 Florida Gators and one spot ahead of No. 10 Gonzaga.

Alabama will face Gonzaga (5-0) at the Players Era Festival at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Monday. Gonzaga roses two spots in this week's USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Tipoff for Alabama-Gonzaga is 8:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on TNT.
