The urgency to dust off the record book increased each time Sleepy Hollow senior running back Brayden Richardson got loose for a long touchdown. He finished with 446 yards and five touchdowns on 27 carries Saturday, advancing the Horsemen to the NYSPHSAA Class B title game with a 42-20 win over Glens Falls.

He now owns the Section 1 single-game record for rushing yards.

Valhalla junior Luke Foisset reset the decades-old mark on Halloween when he piled up 414 yards in a playoff win over Rye Neck. Adam Nunes of Buffalo South Park established the New York state mark last season when he ran for 593 yards against Iroquois.

Richardson also established the Section 1 record for most touchdowns in a season, moving past Harrison great Sammy Maldonado and Bronxville senior Brian Formato, who scored four touchdowns earlier in the day.
