LEXINGTON, Kentucky (WKBN) – Bruce Feldman and Chris Vannini of The Athletic are reporting that Valley native Mark Stoops is being fired as the head football coach at the University of Kentucky.

The Cardinal Mooney graduate led the program to eight consecutive bowl appearances from 2016-23.

Over the course of the last two seasons, Kentucky has gone 9-15 overall and 3-13 in SEC play.

According to the report, Stoops’ contract calls for a $36 million buyout, which is due within 60 days unless there is something else negotiated in the move.
