BROOKINGS, S.D. (SDSU) – The South Dakota State volleyball team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championship and will be a seven seed when the tournament kicks off later this week.
The No. 7 Jackrabbits are matched up with unseeded Arizona for the opening round and will take on the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Central Time on Friday, December 7, at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California. The winner of that match will play the winner of No. 2 Stanford vs. Utah Valley later in the weekend.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementArizona enters the tournament with a 16-12 overall record and went 10-8 in Big 12 action. Host Stanford is 27-4 overall and went 18-2 in the ACC to earn the conference’s automatic bid. Utah Valley (16-10, 10-2 WAC) also earned an automatic bid by winning the WAC postseason tournament.
The Jackrabbits, winners of the Summit League regular season title with a 16-0 record, earned an at-large bid for the second consecutive season. This is the third time in the history of the Summit League that two teams will represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament.
The Jackrabbits are set to make their third NCAA Tournament in the Division I era (2007, 2024, 2025).
