While not a great Pokémon for battling, Ditto in Pokémon GO is an amazing creature to collect due to its rarity, as it can only be found when you recognize what Disguise it's using. Dittos never appear as themselves in the wild, instead appearing as other common Pokémon you can encounter. With Ditto's Disguises changing every month, December 2025 may have new masks for the transforming Normal-type.
As various events in Pokémon GO begin to subside at the beginning of the month, Ditto's Disguises will be easier to spot in the wild. Featured Pokémon aren't typically part of Ditto's rotating masks, especially in type-themed events like High Voltage or Enchanted Hollow from November 2025. With the right items, you'll have a far easier time getting Ditto to spawn, albeit as the Pokémon it likes to hide behind.
All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon GO (December 2025)
Several Possibilities With One Less Likely Rumor
Pokémon GO Ditto Disguise notification from caught Pokémon
In total, there are 12 possible Pokémon Ditto could be disguised as, from an available roster that has persisted for the last few months. There hasn't been an event that has shuffled Ditto's forms yet, so those who've hunted this Pokémon before will see some familiar disguises on the list for December 2025.
Here are all the Pokémon Ditto could be this month:
- Seedot (Grass-type)
- Surskit (Water/Bug-type)
- Slakoth (Normal-type)
- Mankey (Fighting-type)
- Growlithe (Fire-type)
- Voltorb (Electric-type)
- Magnemite (Steel/Electric-type)
- Sentret (Normal-type)
- Duskull (Ghost-type)
- Teddiursa (Normal-type)
- Whismur (Normal-type)
- Buneary (Normal-type)*
Buneary is the only exception to this list, as that Pokémon is merely rumored to be one of Ditto's Disguises, and hasn't yet been confirmed to actually be one of the Pokémon the transforming creature could be. This Pokémon has been one of Ditto's masks before, so it's likely that it has become one again as Pokémon GO's updates have continued.
To find a Ditto, you have to encounter any of the listed Pokémon from above naturally in the wild. Every encounter you have, there's a small chance that a message will pop up when you catch that Pokémon in any way. For example, you could catch a Magnemite, then view a message that tells you the Pokémon was actually a Ditto the whole time.
For those eagerly chasing after any Ditto they can find, you'll notice which Pokémon is the transforming Normal-type when you get a message that says "Oh?" after you catch one of the Disguise Pokémon.
All the Ditto Disguises follow the same rules for their spawn rates as the normal versions of those Pokémon would. Pokémon like Duskull appear at night, creatures like Growlithe have preferred zones they like to appear in, and others tend to spawn near Poké Stops often. In-game items can boost your chances of finding a Ditto, especially if they're used in tandem with an ongoing event that already sees high spawn rates.
Tools like Daily Incense, Lure Modules, or other items that increase the number of Pokémon around a location are great for finding Ditto faster. Using either can also help you farm Candy of any Pokémon from Ditto's Disguise list that you need, but it also has a hidden benefit tied to discovering rarer variants of the Normal-type in Pokémon GO.
Shiny Chances For Ditto
Pursue Blue Dittos With The Same Method As Other Pokémon
Pokémon GO Ditto
The Shiny version of Ditto is the same blob of a Pokémon, only with a distinct blue hue. The Shiny form of Ditto shows up in the same way as usual, using the same Disguises that the Pokémon has. Yet, there are specific odds for any Ditto that you find to be Shiny rather than the pink version of the transforming pocket monster that you might be used to.
Ditto has a 1 in 64 chance of being Shiny, the same Shiny odds in Pokémon GO as any Pokémon within the game. Unlike other Raid Boss or Max Battle Pokémon, Ditto has no increased chances of being Shiny outside an event's spotlight.
All trainers have the same Disguises for Ditto, so no one Trainer can acquire Ditto from a different Pokémon. As an example, this means that if Growlithe is a Ditto Disguise for someone, anyone who encounters a Growlithe might accidentally get a Ditto instead.
Shiny Ditto isn't required for the same Research Tasks as a normal Ditto, but a rare variant of an already elusive Pokémon is a great find for any collector. It may take you a lot of encounters to find a normal Ditto, let alone a Shiny Ditto, so be prepared to face plenty of trial and error if you dedicate time to searching for this Pokémon.
Shiny hunting aside, Ditto is not a useful Pokémon for battles, but rather a bragging right for any ambitious Trainer looking to hunt down all versions of the Normal-type. By knowing what Ditto Disguises are in play for December 2025 in Pokémon GO, you'll have a much better time tracking down one of the game's hardest Pokémon to find.
