We have a little more clarity at the top of this week’s Other Top 25 men’s ranking. Saint Mary’s, who has been No. 1 in each poll during the season, was unanimous this week.

The Gaels are 26th in KenPom, the highest mid-major and one spot ahead of Utah St., who moved up to No. 2 in this week’s poll. SMC is 28th in BartTovik, and the Aggies are 47th. Saint Mary’s is 18th in adjusted defensive efficiency. Randy Bennett’s squad improved to 6-0 with wins over Arkansas St. and Division-II UC Merced this past season.

Utah St. won its only game this week, 94-60 over Davidson. USU has won five of its six games by double digits with the one single digit contest being a three-point win over VCU back on Nov. 7.

Northern Iowa moved up from No. 18 to No. 8. The Panthers are 5-0 and have wins over South Dakota St., Furman and UC Irvine. The win over the Anteaters was by one point (70-69) in overtime Saturday. UNI heads to the Acrisure Holiday Invitational this week and will face Loyola Chicago and then either Tulsa or San Jose St.

San Francisco traveled to Sioux Falls, S.D., and defeated Minnesota 77-65 at the Sanford Pentagon Saturday. The Dons are 5-1 and are into the top 10 by tying with Santa Clara for ninth. They jumped up from No. 18. In addition to the win over the Gophers, USF also has a W over Bradley on its resume.

San Diego St. dropped from No. 2 to sixth. The Aztecs suffered their first loss of the season, 108-107, to Troy in double overtime at home last Tuesday. The preseason No. 1 team is 2-1 and has some big opportunities to bounce back this week with the Players Era Festival. SDSU will play Michigan and Oregon in its first two games of the event.
